Baptismal Guidelines

On the day of the Baptism, parents and godparents should arrive 30 minutes before the service in order to set up and meet with the priest for final instructions. It is customary to bring the baptismal candle to Liturgy during the 40 days after the baptism and to light it when bringing the child forward for Communion.

Items Needed for the Service of Baptism

White bath towel
2 white hand towels
White sheet
Small jar of olive oil
Cross and chain
1-3 candles
White bar of soap
New white baptismal outfit

Important Information

The following payments are required prior to the baptism:
• The fee for a baptism at St. Mary’s for members in good standing is $250.00
• The fee for a baptism at St. Mary’s for non-members is $400.00
This fee covers the use of the building, chanter, and Metropolis paperwork.
If paying by check, please make checks payable to St. Mary’s.
