Sunday Church School Program

Our program strives to educate our most precious resource, our children. Students are taught about our Orthodox faith including teachings of our Lord, prayers, hymns, doctrine and the lives and teachings of the saints and holy fathers and mothers. We also hope to instill in them a moral compass to guide them for the rest of their lives by nurturing the habit of attending church regularly, studying the Scriptures, and participating conscientiously in the worship and sacramental life of our church.

Church School begins with family worship in Divine Liturgy at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings. The students proceed to class following Holy Communion. Classes end at 11:30.

Enrollment:

Infants through 2 Year old have a short class in the nursery along with their parents.

3 year olds through 12th grade meet in classrooms on the southwest side of the church. Classes are held: September through May. There is no fee, however, we ask that families join as pledging members of St Mary’s.

Activities and special yearly events:

The entire Church School participates in many events throughout the year: Service Project Sunday, special class projects for Stewardship, St Nicholas Sunday –procession with gifts for the needy and a visit from St Nicholas, the Christmas Pageant, Godparents Sunday, the Oratorical Festival for 7th-12th grade and the Art Festival for kindergarten through 6th grade, Good Friday retreat, Graduation Sunday and Fun Jam.
